I'm Amy Wadlington! I help high-achieving Christian women break free from overwhelm, quiet the mental noise, and finally find peace. Through breakthrough coaching, you’ll gain clarity, reclaim your energy, and step boldly into the life God has called you to—without the self-doubt, stress, or second-guessing.
When you think of rest, your mind probably jumps straight to sleep—getting a full night’s rest or taking a mid-day nap. But physical rest goes beyond just catching up on sleep. It’s about giving your body the recovery it truly needs to function at its best.
In this blog, we’ll explore why physical rest is essential, different ways to incorporate it into your routine, and how it ties into your overall well-being—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Physical rest isn’t just about sleeping more—it’s about restoring your body in ways that help reduce stress, improve energy levels, and prevent burnout. Here are some key forms of physical rest that can enhance your health and vitality:
Sleep is the foundation of physical rest. Your body repairs muscles, grows tissue, and regulates hormones while you sleep. Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep each night, and establish a bedtime routine that helps you wind down—like prayer, reading, or deep breathing.
Physical rest doesn’t mean complete inactivity. Activities like stretching, walking, and light yoga can relieve tension and improve circulation without overexerting your body. Finding balance between movement and rest is key to long-term well-being.
Your vagus nerve plays a crucial role in relaxation and stress reduction. Simple activities like deep breathing, cold showers, humming, or singing can stimulate this nerve, lowering stress and promoting physical rest.
Your body is always communicating with you. Fatigue, muscle tension, or sluggishness are signs that you may need more physical rest. Pay attention to these cues and adjust your activities accordingly—whether that means extra sleep, lighter exercise, or more intentional relaxation.
As a Christian life coach, I believe physical rest is deeply connected to spiritual and emotional well-being. Many women push themselves to exhaustion, believing rest is a luxury rather than a necessity. But God designed our bodies to need rest. Through coaching, I help women create rhythms of rest that honor their bodies while deepening their faith.
If you’re feeling exhausted or overwhelmed, here are some practical ways to embrace physical rest in your daily life:
Physical rest is about more than avoiding exhaustion—it’s about living fully in alignment with how God created you. In my podcast, Her Unraveled Life, I explore how Christian women can embrace rest without guilt and incorporate it into their faith journey.
If you’re ready to break free from exhaustion and find a rhythm of rest that restores your body and soul, I invite you to explore my coaching program. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan that prioritizes your well-being while keeping God at the center of it all.
