Embracing Your Imperfections & Overcoming Perfectionism
Are you striving for perfection in every aspect of your life? As a Christian life coach, I’ve discovered that perfection often holds us back from embracing God’s call. Today, I want to share how taking imperfect action has not only shaped my journey but can also transform yours. It is time to embrace your imperfections!
The Journey Begins
My name is Amy Wadlington, and as a Christian life coach for women, I’ve seen many of the women I work with and I myself have navigated through the complexities of life circumstances that can hold us back. In my past you can find trauma, chronic illness, including three autoimmunities, and Epstein-Barr virus. My healing journey has been physical, mental, and spiritual, and it has taught me a valuable lesson: with God, overcoming obstacles is possible. It can be messy and imperfect. But God. When we can let go of perfectionism, God is able to step in and do His thing. Because, often perfectionism is just our way of trying to control what we have no control over.
The Revelation
When God nudged me to start the “Her Unraveled Life,” a podcast for Christian women, I was plagued by doubts. I had no background in podcasting and worried about not being perfect. However, a verse from Haggai 1:4-6 changed my perspective. It taught me that God’s plans require our action, not perfection.
Embrace Imperfect Action
Launching the podcast and writing my book, “Into the Deep,” were acts of faith. I realized that God doesn’t call us to be perfect. He calls us to trust Him and take steps, however small they may be.
Three Steps to Transformation
Acknowledge Your Fears: Understand that fear is normal. It’s the first step toward overcoming it.
Commit to Small Actions: Break your goals into smaller tasks. This approach makes your journey less overwhelming.
Seek God: God encourages us to seek Him. Through prayer, scripture, and daily reflections, find the guidance to move forward.
Mindset Shift
Moving from a perfectionism mindset to one focused on growth and faith is liberating. Action inspires motivation, which then builds momentum. Remember, it’s through our actions that God guides us toward His plans.
