Today, we’re diving into how one small change in your thinking can lead to your next big win. We’ll explore why those nagging negative thoughts keep popping up, uncover how our brains play a part in this, and use scripture to help you rewire your mind with powerful, faith-filled affirmations.
As a Christian Life Coach and friend, almost everyone I talk to feels stuck—whether it’s in their finances, marriage, or business. Here’s the hard truth: you’re often the one holding yourself back. I know some of us are facing tough circumstances or have lived through traumatic experiences. Trust me, I get it.
I’ve been there too. From a verbally and emotionally abusive marriage to being a single mom since 2008, I’ve faced my share of challenges. According to the world’s standards, I’m a marginalized victim. But God says I am His daughter, worthy, a victor, and free.
To get your next big win, you have to challenge your thought life. Remember, circumstances lead to thoughts, thoughts create feelings, feelings lead to actions, and actions determine our results. We can’t control our circumstances, but we can control everything else.
Negative thoughts like “I’m not good enough,” “I’ll never be successful,” or “God has forgotten me” can drag us down. These thoughts are more common than you might think, especially among women. They can mess with our peace and joy, leaving us feeling like we’re spinning our wheels.
The Bible gives us powerful tools to counter negative thoughts. For example, 2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us to “take every thought captive to obey Christ.” This means we have the power to change our thinking and align it with God’s truth.
Here are three steps to challenge your thoughts:
Interactive Exercise: Think of a common negative thought or a result you’re not happy with, like “I set goals and always quit before finishing.” Move backward through the thought model: Circumstance, Thoughts, Feelings, Actions, Results. You have this unwanted result—what actions are you taking to get that result? How are you REALLY feeling? What’s the thought?
Affirmations: Write down and memorize affirmations based on biblical truths. For example, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
Actionable Steps:
Common Question: “How do I stay consistent with positive thinking when negative thoughts are so persistent?” Remember, you’re not alone in this struggle. Consistency comes with practice and relying on God’s strength.
Engage with Us: I’d love to hear from you. Share your experiences and affirmations on our social media pages or drop a comment on our website. Your stories can encourage others and help us build a supportive community.
Today, we learned how making one change in our thinking can lead to our next big win. We talked about recognizing, challenging, and changing our unwanted thoughts using scripture and practical steps.
Call to Action: This week, choose one technique we discussed and give it a try. Share your progress with me. Remember, transformation takes time, but every small step is a victory.
Closing Prayer: Let’s end in prayer. “Father God, we thank You for Your truth that sets us free. Help us to take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ. Renew our minds and fill us with Your peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
