I used to think peace was something I’d find when life finally calmed down.
But peace never came.
There was always something—more things to do, more responsibilities, more stress, more emotions to battle. My mind never stopped running. I overanalyzed everything, replayed conversations in my head, and lived in a cycle of fear, shame, and regret. Even when nothing major was happening, my thoughts kept me restless.
Do you you know the feeling?
Maybe you collapse into bed at night, mentally exhausted, but can’t fall asleep because your brain won’t stop. Or perhaps you wake up already anxious about everything waiting for you. Maybe you feel like you’re constantly running, trying to hold everything together.
Can I tell you something? That is not the life God intended for you.
Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)
If Jesus gave you His peace, why does it feel so hard to hold onto?
Because there are things constantly stealing it from you.
Let’s talk about them.
“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” — Matthew 6:27
I used to think that if I worried enough, I could somehow prepare for every outcome, protect myself from disappointment, and avoid failure. But the truth is, worry doesn’t prevent bad things from happening—it just steals today’s peace.
Worry is a trick of the enemy. It keeps you stuck in your own head, trapped in “what-if” thinking, instead of trusting God.
How to stop letting worry steal your peace: When anxious thoughts creep in, pause and surrender them to God. Out loud, say:
“Jesus, You are in charge. I trust You. I refuse to let worry rule over me.”
Every time you do this, you disarm the enemy and take back your peace.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7
Fear is one of the biggest peace stealers because it paralyzes you.
Fear tells you:
It keeps you from stepping into your calling, your healing, and your breakthrough.
How to stop letting fear steal your peace: The next time fear rises, speak truth over it.
When you fight fear with truth, you remind the enemy that he has already lost.
“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” — Romans 8:1
I don’t know what your past holds, but I know what it feels like to carry shame.
Regret keeps you looking back when God is calling you forward.
How to stop letting shame steal your peace: The next time shame tries to define you, remind yourself:
“I am forgiven.”
“I am a new creation in Christ.”
“My past does not define my future.”
God is not looking at your past—He’s calling you into your future.
Don’t let the enemy chain you to a version of yourself that no longer exists.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
Busyness is sneaky.
It feels productive—like you’re doing something important. But deep down, it leaves you exhausted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from God.
I used to wear busyness like a badge of honor. If I wasn’t working, helping someone, or planning the next thing, I felt lazy. But the truth? Busyness is often a distraction from the deeper things God wants to heal in you.
How to stop letting busyness steal your peace:
Peace doesn’t come from doing more. Peace comes from trusting more.
Recognize the Lies & Replace Them with Truth
The enemy’s only weapon is deception. Stop believing his lies and start declaring God’s truth over your life.
Use Your Authority in Christ
You are not weak. You are not powerless. You have authority over every attack on your peace. (Luke 10:19)
