Nourish Yourself

It took me a long time to realize the truth: getting healthy doesn’t have to be so complicated! When you focus on how good you feel nourishing yourself through what you consume, including food, entertainment & media, relationships, etc. you will continue to be motivated to continue to nourish yourself.

Are You Tired or Are You Lonely?

It is totally normal to be tired – I mean, you’re a mom, you’re busy. The to-do list of things us moms do every day is exhausting to look at, let alone accomplish. But I’m talking to you, the mom who is so exhausted that you’re not sure how you’re going to get yourself out of bed because you can barely open your eyes in the morning even though you’re going to bed early every night. The mama who closes the bathroom door and takes a deep breath, and wonders if she closes her eyes for just a few seconds if she could get in a quick nap…yep, a nap on the toilet. The mama who isn’t sure if it’s pure exhaustion or if it could possibly be depression. Because since you’re on the verge of tears half the day it could be either. Or both.

Yes and Amen

Have you ever watched an eagle soar? They spread out their wings and allow the winds to carry them. There’s very little effort on their part, the wind does all the work. They actually prefer to migrate during the day because they know the winds are stronger and they’ll be carried farther and closer to their destination. They can sense when a storm is coming… when the time is right, they stretch out their wings, lock them in place ..and wait. When the storm comes, the wind grabs hold of their wings and lifts them up and over the storm, and carries them. There’s no need for them to flap frantically, hide in a tree, or fear for their life because they were made to soar. It’s truly fascinating to watch.

How To Curb Sugar Cravings

If you struggle with sugar cravings you are not alone, on average, Americans are consuming about 57 pounds of added sugar every year (you read that right). That is a lot of sugar! Studies estimate that up to 90% of the adult population may experience food cravings, these cravings are often for sugary foods.

Recognizing Deprivation

During this season that will long remain in our memories as the season of the pandemic—the masks—the restrictions—those lost to covid, I have become increasingly aware of a vague dissatisfaction in almost everyone with whom I have talked. This vague dissatisfaction goes beyond all the explainable reasons, and seems to come into focus best when described as a deep sense of being deprived.

Fruit Tree

If you’re going through a tough season consider this. Every spring fruit trees get beautiful blossoms but those blossoms fall off the tree before it can produce any fruit. It doesn’t make the tree’s blossoms any less beautiful, it just means that it’s a fruit tree, not a flower tree.
